On Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th of June, 2022 we held our first ever Flower Festival in the church. It was also our first parish social event since the start of the pandemic, and the first since Father David Long became our Parish Priest.
It was a tremendous success with many parishioners attending together with people from other parishes and from around Knutsford. After expenses we made £636.18 for the various charities that our parish is supporting.
The main attraction were the flower displays, which represented the different groups that contribute to the parish community. You can see these in the gallery below. On the Sunday we also held a ‘Gardeners’ Question Time with a panel of experts from the parish and beyond – Jess Hughes, Mary Johnson, David Skidmore and Steve Relton. More than 50 people joined in with plenty of questions.
Our thanks must go to Mary Birchall – the main organiser of the event; to Martin Relton, from Knutsford Catenians, who ensured all the non- flower related activities happened; and Sheila Flynn for organising the teas and coffees.
We must also congratulate all those who produced the wonderful flower displays – Liz McAllister, Kath Boyes, Carmel McGiveron, Carolyn Paver, Liz Stocco, Fran Lowe, MaAngeles McGhee, Elaine McGhee, Jo Rees, Marie Prescott and Pat Ellis.
Members of the Knutsford Circle of the Catenian Association helped in a number of ways, especially by welcoming visitors to the church and organising the Gardeners’ Question Time.
