THE HUMBLE PLACE At the banquet, Jesus teaches us that true greatness is found not in seeking the highest seat, but in choosing the humble place. In God’s Kingdom, honour is not claimed but given, and it is the lowly who are lifted up. He also calls us to widen our hearts by showing kindness to the poor, the forgotten, and those who cannot repay our good deeds. This is the love that reflects the generosity of God Himself, who welcomes us to His table. The way of Christ is humility and hospitality. By taking the lower seat and opening our arms to others, we find ourselves already sharing in the joy of His heavenly feast.

THE NARROW DOOR The narrow door of faith is not entered by words alone, but by lives shaped in love and humility. What seems demanding leads to joy, for in the end it is those who walk closely with Christ who find their place at the feast of His Kingdom.Reflection by Christel Casse, Lay Pastoral Assistant

THE KINGDOM AS A PROMISE By Christel Casse. Jesus reassures us with tender love: “Do not be afraid, little flock.” He reminds us that our security is not in what we own, but in what we are promised: the Kingdom. Our call is to live generously, ready to meet Him, with hearts that treasure what cannot be lost.

HOLY YEAR PILGRIMAGE To mark the Holy Year of Hope I am planning a joint Parish Pilgrimage to St Winefride’s Well in Holywell and to the Calvary at Pantasaph (where Mass will be celebrated) on Wednesday 20 August. The cost of the coach will be £24 (based on 35 people) and a three-course lunch is available for £16. Ifyou would like to come, please collect and complete a booking form from the Porch and return it to me with your payment (cheques should be made payable to St Winefride’s, Lymm Parish Account).

CAMBODIA NEWS Fr Totet is delighted with the $15,000 we sent which has enabled him to start building the classrooms at The Jesus Farm. I am taking a group of parishioners to visit him from 1-9 February in 2026 to see first-hand the work that he is doing in various communities in and around Siem Reap in Cambodia.  The cost of a return flight would be around £1200 in economy (Business Class flights can be arranged on request). The cost of a double/twin room including breakfast in a 4-star hotel would be around £250-£300. As well as experiencing the work of the Church we will visit the UNESCO World Heritage Temples at Angkor Wat. There would be some extra charges for our transport in Cambodia and for the visit to Angkor Wat but these would not be substantial. If you are interested in joining me please give me your name and contact details after Mass or email me on the parish email.

ADORATION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT Saturdays from 11.30am to 12 Noon.

SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION is available after weekday Mass and during Adoration on Saturdays.

RICH IN WHAT MATTERS TO GOD By Christel Casse. In a world obsessed with wealth and possessions, Jesus reminds us that true richness lies in our relationship with God. The rich man built bigger barns but forgot eternity. Let us not store up treasure for ourselves while neglecting the soul. What lasts is not what we have, but who we are in Christ.
